Materials & Making

materials & making

RAFF.A.ELLA is guided by a slow and considered approach to clothing.

Each collection is created in small runs, using natural fibres, embroidered cottons, linens, silks and vintage textiles chosen for their texture, ease and quiet beauty.

small runs

We do not follow fast fashion seasons or mass production.

Many RAFF.A.ELLA pieces are created in limited quantities, often because the fabrics themselves are limited. This allows us to make more consciously, reduce excess, and create garments that feel special without being precious.

natural fibres

Where possible, we choose natural fibres such as linen, cotton and silk.

These fabrics are loved for the way they feel on the body, the way they move, and the way they soften with wear. They are breathable, beautiful, and made to be lived in.

vintage textiles

Vintage and reclaimed textiles are an important part of RAFF.A.ELLA.

By working with existing fabrics, we are able to give beautiful materials a second life — honouring their texture, history and craftsmanship while reducing the need for new fabric production.

Many of our silk pieces are made from vintage silks sourced in small quantities, making each release naturally limited.

made slowly

RAFF.A.ELLA pieces are made by founder and designer Raffael in her South Australian home studio.

From cutting and sewing to finishing and packing, each garment is created with care and intention.

As a small label, we are always learning and refining the way we work. We are not perfect, but we are committed to making thoughtful choices — choosing quality over quantity, natural fibres over synthetics where possible, and slower production over excess.
